Fellowship of Orthodox Christians
Challenge

Years before most small businesses knew a URL from a zip code, Father John Steffaro felt ready to bring his Orthodox Christian Fellowship into the modern age. He wanted to communicate activities and community happenings with the members of his Fellowship, and stay in touch with the larger Orthodox Christian network. With a degree in computer science, he was following the rapid development of the Internet. He was convinced he'd found the perfect modern medium for revitalizing his Fellowship around the ancient values of their spiritual tradition.
Solution

Father John began searching the Web for site building services, trying a few of them before finding Homestead. Impressed by the lack of outside advertising and the design capabilities of the SiteBuilder, he signed up and has been a member ever since. A short video greeting and tour hosted by Homestead's CEO, Justin Kitch, allowed Father John to "put a face to the name" of the product he's worked with for so long.  Inspired, Father John wasted no time in signing up for Homestead.
Success

With www.orthodoxfellowship.org, Father John has achieved his original vision of keeping up with the times. Along the way, he's enhanced his Fellowship's ability to fulfill their mission. Now the members can receive up-to-the-minute information on needs arising from within the community, including births, illnesses and deaths. At the same time, the executive board can receive up to date reports on Fellowship activities, while conveniently locating information on board meetings. Father John plans to post his newsletters on the site as a compliment to the print version. That way other districts can easily check in on his Fellowship, which Father John hopes may inspire them to follow his example and build sites of their own.
"I really appreciated that I wasn't hammered by a whole lot of advertising. Homestead offered me the ability to be a designer without a design background. And I like the way the service is adding new things and improving all the time!"
